As part of our Bozzuto Love Project, we asked residents, homeowners, friends and employees to share their love stories. Then, we asked our social media followers to vote on their favorite story. Michelle and Pat earned the most votes, so they’ll be enjoying a weekend getaway at a Kimpton Hotel!  Read their story below.

Pat and Michelle both live in the same Bozzuto apartment building – two doors down from each other. They had bumped into each other a few times in the elevator. One night Michelle found that the FedEx deliveryman delivered a package to her door that was intended for a neighbor.

She walked down the hall and knocked on the door. She internally gasped when the cute man who she saw in the elevator opened the door. He politely asked her how the school year was going. Michelle looked puzzled as she had forgotten that she had shared any details about her life. Patrick remembered every detail as he said, “Michelle, right? English professor, right?” She couldn’t believe he remembered this information and said, “I’m so sorry I don’t know anything about you.”

Pat pointed to the label on his package and said “I’m Pat.” That was the end of their first conversation. It took another passing in the hallway before Pat asked her on a date. After ten months of dating, Pat and Michelle spent a quiet Valentine’s Day together cooking dinner at home.

After dinner, Pat said he had to tell Michelle something that he had been keeping from her. He said he had actually been lying to her about something. Michelle’s heart sank. He said, “You know how when you tell people the story of how we met you always say that the Fed Ex guy delivered my package to your door? Well…the reality is, I put that package there.”

Michelle searched his face in disbelief. Pat continued, “When I first saw you in the building, I knew I had to meet you so I put that package there. And once I met you, I knew I had to get to know you better and then I knew that I had to spend my life with you.”

Still in shock that he had been romantic enough to plant the box at her door, Michelle was in greater shock when Pat got down on one knee and asked her to marry him. As her hand shook and tears streamed down her face, Pat placed a beautiful ring that he picked out all by himself on her hand.
