We hope your sweet tooth is ready! Earlier this week, we received some pretty great news from our good friends at Rhode Island Avenue Insider: “DC’s Chocolate Bar and Bakery LLC” will be opening up just down the street from Rhode Island Row!

The owners of the Chocolate Bar, Dr. and Mrs. Larry and Tahiti McNair, have resided in the Woodridge area for quite some time; Dr. McNair also owns a dental practice on nearby Hamlin Street. The couple have purchased two store front properties next door to each other on Rhode Island Avenue, 2026 RIA and 2028 RIA.

The McNairs plan to open the aforementioned Chocolate Bar in the space at 2028 RIA, featuring organic chocolates, baked products, ice cream, smoothies, coffee, and even light meals. The Chocolate Bar will seat 35 people, offer free wi-fi, and embrace a family-friendly environment that both kids and adults will enjoy.  Their tentative hours are 6:30am-9pm and they are hoping for a grand opening in June of this year.

Next door to the Chocolate Bar, at 2026 RIA, Mrs. McNair will open a storefront for her existing organic skincare products business called Tahitian Treats. Mrs. McNair has a BS in Biology and Chemistry and has been using her knowledge to personally craft her own line of hypoallergenic products for people with sensitive skin. Tahitian Treats has been a successful online operation for some time, and this Woodbridge storefront will be her first physical store location. Tahitian Treats will also offer seated massage in addition to selling organic body products.

We couldn’t be more excited about these two great businesses joining our neighborhood. A place to enjoy a cup of coffee, free wifi, and a cupcake AND a place to get pampered with organic body products next door – what’s not to love!?
