Residents of the DC area who just can’t be parted with their four-legged friends or simply want to include Fido in a day out and about have no shortage of attractions available to them. Since many of our Washington DC apartments are pet friendly, we thought we’d share some of our favorite spots to bring your pooch around The District! From happy hour to river cruises, the metro area is welcoming to pretty much all of your canine companions.
Helix Lounge
Hotel Helix just might be the hippest pet happy hour in town. The chiq patio plays host to pooches and their pal’s in the afternoon with specialty menu items off the Bark Bites menu for the pups and canine-themed cocktails like the “Pet Peeve” for patrons.
Potomac Riverboat Company
Does Beethoven have a sweet spot for sight seeing? Potomac Riverboat Company will take you and the whole crew from the Washington Harbor up the Potomac to discover some of the best sight-seeing in DC.
National Mall
Doesn’t matter if your little guy is red or blue, the National Mall’s two mile stretch of monuments, museums, and historical buildings welcomes all (in the uncovered areas only). While they must remain on leash, getting up close and personal with the Capital, White House, and many of the monuments might just inspire your pooch to take a stand for something they believe in….or chase ducks through the park. Either way, it’s good fun for all.
Doggy Style Bakery
After a long day of play, your pooch is going to need some R and R! Spoil them rotten at this bakery, boutique and pet spa. They make treats with fresh, human-grade ingredients and carry a variety of organic pet products. In case Rover needs some grooming, they also offer these services and use all-natural, chemical-free shampoos and products during the process. What better way to show love for your best friend?
These are only a few of the many great places that will welcome you and your canine pals with open arms. For even more great locales, check out Dog Friendly who have compiled a great resource for pet owners who want to be out and about with their pups.
